The speedy advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers significant opportunities for transforming curriculum delivery and advancing sustainable development goals within African tertiary education. This article investigates the role of AI-adjusted curriculum delivery in enhancing quality, inclusive, relevant and future-oriented higher education while identifying the challenges and implications related to its adoption. The article employs a conceptual review method, drawing on relevant international and African literature on AI in education, curriculum transformation, sustainable development and higher education. The review shows that AI can improve personalized learning, instructional effectiveness, assessment, digital competencies, graduate employability and access to educational material. Nevertheless, inadequate digital infrastructure, limited AI competencies, funding constraints, ethical concerns, data-privacy issues, digital inequality and weak institutional policies remain significant obstacles to effective delivery in African tertiary institutions. The article argues that successful AI combination needs context-sensitive curriculum reform, lecturer capacity training, responsible AI governance, enhanced infrastructure and greater university–industry collaboration. It concludes that AI needs to be strategically integrated as a human-centered instrument for achieving educational quality and sustainable development rather than as a replacement for educators.
